US respects the Egyptian people’s choices: American Ambassador

Anne Patterson who is the United States ambassador to Egypt has referred to the ongoing Egyptian parliamentary election as “highly successful.” The second phase of the election has been complicated but the governorates including Beni Suef, Sohag, Giza and Aswan have been working through the election process. As the Muslim Brotherhood has secured 37 per cent of the votes during the first stage of elections and the Salafist Nour Party has secured 21 per cent of the votes Patterson made has it clear when asked about how the United States plans to deal with the early victories of the Islamists that the United States would “respect the choices of Egyptian people.”

How will the result of these elections change and affect the relationship between Egypt and the US?
