The United Nations Security Council is currently considering a resolution that will, if passed, bring justice and democracy to the people of Syria, according to this CNN opinion piece. The resolution calls for the immediate stepping down of current dictator, Bashar al-Assad. In the past ten months, over 5,000 Syrians have been killed at the hands of Syrian’s government and assailing loyalists. As long as al-Assad remains in power, the deaths will continue. The U.S.,  NATO, Brazil and other concerned nations have  scheduled an international conference on the matter in the event this resolution is vetoed by Russia. The time has come for democracy and liberty for Syrians, says Ammar Abdulhamid and Ken Ballen.  It is the hope of many that all members of the United Nations feel the same and hence pass this resolution.
