After a month long siege of the city of Homs, the Free Syrian Army has withdrawn from the region. The Baba Amr area of the city, the site of much of the heaviest fighting has been heavily shelled by the army. The rebels announced that they had to withdraw from the area because thousands of civilians refused to evacuate their homes. There are now thousands of civilians who lack water and electricity within the city. Recent snowstorms have made living conditions for the city’s inhabitants even worse. The Red Cross has finally been given permission to enter the area and provide aid.
